Sentio
Music visuals created for the Martin Garrix ‘Sentio’ tour.
MARTIN GARRIX | SENTIO
The team at Phntm Labs brought me on board in 2022 to help create visuals for Sentio, a world-wide tour for the electronic music artist Martin Garrix. The show theme focused on AI sentience and machines experiencing their first emotions. The various visual packs I delivered were created using a mixture of realtime 3D software, lasers projectors, analog glitch gear and practical effects.

FACIAL RECOGNITION
This visual approach was inspired by the uncanny ‘Sophia’ robot, created by Hanson Robotics. The virtual character was created using Unreal Engine Metahumans and the model was animated using Live Link, which captures realtime facial gesture data and applies it to the metahuman. The virtual renders were then run through a CRT television and distorted using the Tachyons+ Dreamweapon analog glitch module.
DIODE WAVEFORMS
This visual pack was created with a combination of laser graphics and analog glitch modules. The source waveform patterns were designed in Quickshow and then projected with an Uno Bermuda X RGB laser. Once filmed, the laser graphics were processed through a CRT television and the Tachyons+ Dreamweapon.
CAUSTIC STRUCTURES
This visual pack focused on how light transmits through glass, similar to content on our phones or computers. Laser patterns were projected through several glass vases, each stacked in different arrays on a motorized turntable. The results were filmed on a Blackmagic 6K using a combination of macro lenses and probes.
VIRTUAL CONCERT PROCESS
The source visuals were generated using a combination of Unreal Engine and Metahumans, which allowed me to control a virtual model using facial gestures. These graphics were glitched using analog gear by Tachyons+ and then added back into a virtual concert scene for presentation. The virtual scene was primarily built using Quixel Megascans and Adobe Mixamo Models. The tutorials of William Faucher were incredibly helpful for this process.
