ODESZA TOUR VISUALS

Role: Animation & Design
Client: Odesza
Created: 2024

In 2024 I had the pleasure of working with Luke Tanaka and his amazing visual team on Odesza’s 'The Last Goodbye’ tour. I worked on the visuals for two of their songs, which were created with a mixture of digital and analog techniques. The final output covered a large LED backdrop and two massive side screens that mixed with live action footage of the musicians.

THE LAST GOODBYE

The visuals for The Last Goodbye use a combination of digital animation processed through analog glitch effects. The graphics were first animated in Adobe Aftereffects and designed to align with the stage’s lighting grid. They were then run through the Tachyons+ Dreamweapon analog glitch module and re-filmed on a Sony Trinitron CRT television.

MY FRIENDS NEVER DIE

The visuals for My Friends Never Die were created using a combination of analog cymatics and digital particle effects. The first layer was created with a chladni plate, which vibrates sand particles at various frequencies to create unique patterns. The footage of those reactions was imported into Cinema 4D and stacked to create the illusion of an endless tunnel. Each layer of footage was used as a source for Octane Scatter objects, which turned each layer into 3D particles that would react to virtual lighting and camera animations.
