EVINETTA
In early 2020, I teamed up with the sauce-master Ash Thorp to create some lo-fi screen graphics for his short film, Evinetta. The piece revolved around a highly detailed concept car created by Ash and the team. I animated several text graphics that appear throughout the experience, all processed through Tachyons+ hardware and a 13” CRT television. I also provided Ash with a package of abstract glitch textures for an extra bit of spice in the edit. Huge props to the whole team for creating such a wild visual journey.

In the early stages of this project, Ash filmed the main character in a blank white mask. I shot several tests with the classiest of mask assistants, Brittnie Diamant, to try and integrate the mask into our screen graphics. Each of the experiments were processed using the Tachyons+ Dreamweapon module and filmed on a Sony Trinitron 13” CRT. The mask element was mostly cut from the final film, but I still enjoy some of the glitchy moments from our initial experiments.
Mask Experiments
In addition to glitching several text elements, I also took a few passes at glitching the main title graphic. Due to the low-resolution of the CRT screen, it wasn’t ideal for a final output, but still led to some interesting results for transitions. These were also glitched using the Tachyons+ Dreamweapon module.
